Hi Roey, I'm a professional keyboardist who plays, records, and is now trying to make better mixes. I must say that your book is far and away the best guide for the musician who wants to understand the science and the musical technique of professional-quality mixing. I've been recording and mixing for over 17 years and your book clears up a great many mysteries. Thank you for giving us a book that will always be right next to my monitor screen for continuous reference.

Hi Roey,
I want to translate your book to my native language.i.e. Turkish, with your permission of course. I think many engineers in my country would be grateful for a book like this. Well, at least I am. It is a reference book, and really trained my ear and sculpted my mixing approach.

Peace.

Hi Tümer,

It would be great if you do, but it's Focal Press who deal with these things. As they are yet to translate the book to German or French (or any language other than English), I'm reluctant to think they'll go for it. In fact, if they haven't translated the handbook for sound engineers, I really don't think they will Mixing Audio, although it would be fantastic if they did.

Cheers,
Roey

Hi Everyone,

I've just bought the book after seeing nothing but glowing recommendations, really looking forward to reading it.

My field is mainly sound design for film and animation. I'm most experienced with sound editing and I'm not terribly knowledgeable about mixing, so I'm trying to fill in the gaps in my knowledge. Hopefully this also means being able to incorporating mixing into what I can do for film makers who I work with, but I also think it's just important (and personally fulfilling) to know as much as one can about your field.

I'm also a musician and play in a metal band, we're recording at the moment and working with a really great producer, which has made me really want to learn more about mixing music and hopefully be more adept at mixing my own stuff.

Cheers!

Hi Ewan,

I really hope that the book will broaden your horizons with regards to sound design. I personally think that there is little creative input channeled to the sound of films and animations - everyone just do things 'proper', not many experiment. I think that while the final mix in post production is very different from a musical mix, the tools used in music mixing can be utilised to create far more fascinating sound for films.

Hey Roey,
Not sure if you remember, but you helped me record my final project at the SAE in London back in 2002.

(You were studying a degree and I was studying an audio engineering diploma)

It's great to see that you have written a book and that it is so well received by everyone who has read it.

It's also getting recommendations here: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1776661

Which is predominantly an American forum.

I recognised your name and then found your website with a little help from Google.

Anyway hope your well, keep up the good work.

Best Regards

James Lloyd

Hi James,

I clearly remember your name, but have to faces in my head and can't decide which one you are...

Thanks for your comments on the book. All is well here, and keep in touch.

Cheers,
Roey
